ACCESS, AirCraft Casualty Emotional Support Services, is a nonprofit grief support network providing care to the relatives and friends of air disaster victims throughout their grieving process. We connect our Volunteer Grief Mentors, who have lost loved ones in air disasters in years past, to individuals who have lost loved ones in more recent air disasters. Our volunteers are professionally trained and in a unique position to provide hope and inspiration to those who have more recently lost loved ones.

If you who have lost a loved one in an air disaster-related tragedy, including 9/11, and would like to use your hard-earned knowledge and experience to help others with a similar loss, we invite you to attend our new Volunteer Grief Mentor training program.

ACCESS partners parents with parents, mothers with mothers, orphans with orphans, spouses with spouses, siblings with siblings and other relationships lost. Since 1996, ACCESS has paired up hundreds of people who have suffered losses in air disasters. This pairing is important and unique because those who have gone through a similar loss years ago have valuable insight to offer another person who has more recently experienced loss.

At this training conference we will present NEW specialized material and skills to help you most effectively use your own personal loss to help others.

Volunteer Grief Mentors are the heart of ACCESS. We never know when the next major air disaster is going to occur. When you become a Volunteer Grief Mentor, you are "on-call," so it is important that you are prepared and trained so that you can effectively respond when your expertise is needed.

At this conference, you will acquire new skills and tools necessary to deliver consistent and effective high quality responses that promote healing and recovery to others affected by air disaster-related tragedies. Upon completion of this program you will receive your Volunteer Grief Mentor certification.

The one-day training program will increase your proficiency in assisting ACCESS clients by teaching you innovative active listening techniques, crisis intervention strategies, the keys to establishing rapport, what to say when you don't know what to say, and effective assessment models. The training will utilize teambuilding, role-playing and problem solving exercises to help you enhance your comfort level while practicing the skills necessary for an optimal response to those in need of our support services.

Our conference instructor is a highly qualified and compassionate bereavement and disaster response expert. He is in high demand and we are fortunate that he has offered to share his expertise with us.
